President Trump’s amendment to the health care law, which the GOP has opposed long before, now moves to allow insurance companies to charge any individual, regardless of where the health care provider shows a coverage level that exceeds the ACA’s typical baseline standard. As with other changes, these provisions are tailored to the specific conditions facing a patient, and do not address individual coverage, the exchanges, or those that rely on Medicaid or other states’ mandates.
